Someone asked me recently if I care about Valentine's Day. Of course, I care about Valentine's Day. A lot of people dismiss it as a contrived, manufactured holiday, but one could say that about other holidays: Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Veteran's Day. People don't necessarily honor the origins or the true meanings of those holidays, but Valentine's Day is something that you can acknowledge sincerely. It's a time to express love for your partner, your parents, your friends, your kids. Maybe it's the wedding photographer in me, but I think it's really nice to have a day dedicated to love. As Leo Tolstoy said, "Everything I understand, I understand only because I love."
